Kneiser Kitchen

Oak Ridge, TN

Built in a ranch home nestled between a wooded park and the Oak Ridge Turnpike, this elegant kitchen was designed with a contrasting theme of black and white elements. Utilizing clean and simple push-to-open hardware, the primary materials are white oak and quartzite. The perimeter cabinetry is ebonized white oak, a chemical darkening process where the oak reacts with vinegar and steel shavings to develop a chocolate colored patina. The island is also white oak, finished with a milk paint to preserve the unique graining of oak.

When I began my research for our kitchen remodel, I couldn’t believe I was fortunate enough to have discovered FORK. We were in dire need of function in our kitchen, but had a craving for a unique design that went against the grain of most current trends. I knew I needed someone who would understand our vision, yet with the skill and dexterity to bring it to fruition.

Working with Forrest was incredibly easy. We presented him with what we loved, what we needed, and what we hated. Sometimes, we didn’t know any of this, which is why Forrest was such a vital part of the overall design.

We are incredibly happy with the final project, and often catch ourselves in disbelief that the space is actually in our house.
